My Journey to Music
Nate Sangsland's journey through music and life reads like a testament to resilience, talent, and adaptability. From a tender age, his innate musical prowess was evident as he began singing in church at just 4 years old, laying the foundation for his profound musical journey. His commitment to mastering his craft led him to start piano lessons at 15 and pick up the guitar at 18, further diversifying his musical talents. Nate refined his skills in studio vocal performance at the University of Indianapolis, where he honed his voice to professional perfection.
His life took a monumental turn in 2001 when, deeply moved by the events of September 11, he enlisted in the US Army. Serving in the 1/4 Air Defense Artillery out of Wackernheim, Germany, as a Bradley Fighting Vehicle crewmember, Nate exhibited the same passion and dedication he had for music. He was deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, showcasing his bravery and commitment to his country. In a fitting twist of fate, Nate's final year of enlistment saw him assigned to the 4th ID Army Band at Fort Hood, Texas, where he returned to his first love: music.
2005 marked a new chapter in Nate's musical career as he began playing Dueling Pianos. This venture catapulted him onto international stages, allowing him to perform on cruise ships, military tours, weddings, and corporate events worldwide, thereby broadening his musical horizons and audience. Nate's showcases his emotional depth and musical skill in his 2009 album release, "When I’m with You", encapsulating his experiences and feelings in a collection of heartfelt songs.
Nate's personal life flourished alongside his career when he married Geraldine in 2011. The couple has lived in the vibrant cities of Savannah, GA, and New Orleans, LA, absorbing the rich musical cultures of these areas. Post-pandemic, they settled in South Walton, FL, where Nate continues to inspire and enthrall with his music.
